Repiping Your Home – Time To Repipe?

Leaky pipes, low water pressure, rusty water, and cracked or corroded valves are signs of problems in your water supply system. Corrosion inside your pipes is a reality in older homes, usually caused by either having iron pipes that eventually rust or pH factors that interact with the copper over time. The usual result of this is a series of small fixes that never quite get rid of the problem. The solution is to have the whole house repiped. This entails completely replacing all of the supply pipes in your house. This is a project you should consider with a remodel if possible, as you open walls to redo things. However, we don’t always get to pick our timing for repiping.

Even if you don’t have a problem yet, if you are planning a remodel on an older home, this is something to consider. If you have plumbing walls open already, that makes the job easier and therefore less expensive. Also, it your house is older than the early 1980s, you may have lead solder in your plumbing. That is possible if you have copper pipes and the house has never been fully remodeled and repiped in the past. Any time you remodel, this is the time to look for the problems that may lay quietly inside your walls and fix as much as you can while it is easy to access.

Whether you are remodeling or just want to completely fix the problem with your water supply, we can have your pipes rerouted or repiped in a day or two and have you back to normal in no time. If the walls are not open, we remove some of the old pipe, and abandon some to preserve as much of your walls as possible. Then we replace the pipes with new copper pipe or pex tubing. We will reroute much of the pipes to keep from tearing up more of your house than necessary, and our workmanship has a lifetime warranty. For more information contact us at PlumbSmart Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning, we can make a same day or next day appointment to evaluate your problems and make a plan to solve your plumbing problems.

Sewer Line Cleaning, Repair & Replacement

As great as it is to have running water in your house for cooking, washing your hands, and bathing… Let’s face it; the most important job that your house’s plumbing can do is not the clean water it brings in, but the filthy water and waste it carries out.

If you have ever experienced sewer problems or are experiencing them now, you certainly recognize the truth in the above statement. If you view that statement with skepticism, we congratulate you on your good fortune to this point and hope you never learn firsthand just how true it is.

Is your sewer line clogged, backing up, or leaking? PlumbSmart offers a full range of plumbing services, including sewer cleaning and repair at prices that will surprise you if you’ve seen what many of our competitors demand. We can fix your sewer line and restore clean service to your home.

We use sewer camera inspection to identify the exact location causing a problem in your line and can make a determination of the best (and most cost-effective) course of action to flush your sewer problems away.

Sometimes all the line needs is a good cleaning. In these cases, snaking is often sufficient, but we also offer a sewer jet cleaning service when that isn’t enough. When there is a crack, hole, or other problem requiring a clear repair, we will always consult with you and weigh the comparative costs of repairing versus replacing all or part of the sewer line and can resolve your problem cost-effectively.

If you’re having sewer problems, don’t overpay – call us today! Please feel free to leave a question or comment and we’ll get back to you. Don’t forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!

How Long Do Water Heaters Last?

One of the most common questions we hear is, “How long will my water heater last?” An electric tank type water heater will typically last 8 to 10 years, while gas water heaters have a slightly shorter lifespan. Whether gas or electric, water heaters do not last forever and can breakdown suddenly and begin to leak, resulting in flood and water damage. Eventually, they wear out and occasionally, they can break suddenly.

When you have a water heater problem, you want to address it promptly. We understand the apprehension you might feel worrying how much it will cost to restore hot water (and sanity) to your home. But there is no sense in suffering while you delay a needed repair or replacement. At least there isn’t when you can simply call PlumbSmart to get honest and quick assistance.

At PlumbSmart, we offer a range of plumbing services, including water heater repair. We want to resolve your water heater problem promptly and we want to do it cost-effectively. We don’t simply recommend ripping out any existing water heater and replacing it with a new one. (Doing so would certainly be easier in some cases and would likely be more profitable.) Instead, we specialize in troubleshooting the problems that water heaters can have. And as we diagnose the problem with your water heater, we can help you assess whether it will be more cost-effective and prudent to repair your current water heater or replace it with a new one.

So don’t take any more cold showers or wash your hands in icy water one more time. Call us at 480-654-8865 or 602-256-9181 today so we can diagnose your water heater’s problems and bring back the flow of glorious, hot water.

Home Spa Bathroom Remodel

Your bathroom is where you get energized in the morning and recover from a long day. The ideal bathroom is one that offers a sense of well-being. A luxurious home spa is more than a bathroom, it is a retreat from the pressures of the world. If you’re considering a bathroom remodel, here are some key remodeling tips that will help you achieve the best results.

Your space will define the scope of your retreat. You want to choose your bathtub and shower to fit the space. A bathroom becomes cramped and awkward the tub and shower are too big for the room. Soak tubs come in so many shapes and sizes that you do not have to sacrifice comfort for fit. For small spaces, you can choose a combination tub/shower that will add to your home spa without cramping your room. If your space is large, such as making over that extra bedroom into your new relaxing home spa, you will want to choose accordingly. Whether big or small, you can have your dream bathroom.

Texture and color are important to a home spa. You want to make this into a relaxing refuge, and to do that you will want to remember the rest of your house. You want changes to be subtle and soothing, not sudden and jarring. If you have a predominate color scheme, continue at least some elements of this into the bathroom. Choose your flooring with the thought that you will have water and bare feet. Tile or natural stone floors are friendly to both, and come in so many options for color and texture.

Cabinets that look like furniture and round vanity mirrors are also in style. Mirrors and light colors are also good for making it feel like you have more space than you do. Showers are also fun places to make your room the oasis of relaxation. In small spaces consider glass doors and continuing the floor tile into the shower for a larger feel.

Whether your space is large or small, you can have a luxurious start and finish to your day. At PlumbSmart, we look forward to helping you create your dream bathroom, and make it a reality.

Signs You May Have a Slab Leak

Slab leaks occur when there is water leaking under the concrete slab on which your house rests. They pose potentially serious risks to your home in and of themselves and also spur additional problems.

Depending on the severity of the leak, it may be difficult to determine whether you have a slab leak or not. Certainly, identifying a leak underneath your concrete floor will never be as straightforward as noticing that a showerhead or under-sink pipe is leaking. But a slab leak often needs even more immediate attention that more easily identified leaks.

So, how can you tell if you have a slab leak? There are a number of warning signs that might indicate a problem.

If you suspect that you are experiencing a slab leak, you should shut off your water immediately and call PlumbSmart. We offer fast dispatch, FREE slab leak detection (what have you got to lose?), and a $250 discount off slab leak repairs.
