"I called PlumbSmart to have a tuneup done on my unit. They came out checked everything over and said it was generally working well. They recommended replacing two capacitors though due to readings showing that they were possibly failing. I went ahead and had them replace those. A few weeks later the unit seemed to be running excessively and having a hard time cooling the house down. I was in the process of moving out and shut the power off to the AC after I moved out. A few days later, I called PlumbSmart to come back out. The same technician came back out and found that the freon had leaked out of the valves that are used to test the pressure of the system. I had to pay to have freon put back into the system which I found frustrating since if I avoided the tune up, the system would not have leaked, but I went ahead and him perform the work. Shortly after the freon was replaced he uncovered another issue. He could no longer get my Nest thermostat to operate. He stated it likely failed and recommended replacing it. I was out of the area and needed the AC working so I also authorized the replacement of the thermostat. I later found that the Nest thermostat was fine after installing it into a new house. The internal battery had simply drained due to power being shut off to the unit and needed to be recharged for it to work. It seems that the technician is not familiar with Nest thermostats unfortunately which lead to an unnecessary replacement in this case. Overall I feel like a fair portion of these repair costs should have been avoided. Update below. After publishing the initial review above, the owner contacted me the same day. He thanked me for my feedback and wanted to make it right. He provided me with a partial refund and I've updated the review from 2 stars to 4. I was very pleased with how the owner handled it and it shows that he does care for his customers. I'd now use them again given the opportunity."
